Sisters

I never had a sister, but my girls each have two sisters and my boys each have 3 sisters. It is going to be a lot of fun to see how their relationships develop as the years go by. There are 4 years between Sarah and Lizzy and 4 years between Lizzy and Leah. That is a big difference in one little room! They are all at totally different stages of life and likes, but they love each other! They are all so different, so unique, but all oh-so-girl! We love our 3 girls and this blog is to celebrate in pictures, the joy of sisters!

Dancin' Fools

My kids are all into dancing around with choreography these days! The funny thing is that it was my visiting nephews who got them into it. Ethan(9) and Eric(almost 7) are the proud owners of iPods. They had such classics on them as "Billy Joe McGuffrey"-Chris Rice/VeggieTales, "Belly Button" and "Boyz In the Sink" - also Veggietales. By the time my nephews left my kids had Lizzy as the MC (they call her the producer) and Sarah and Dan as dancers! It is hilarious but I love that they are breakin' down to Veggie Tales tunes after a few years of not being into them!

Anyhow, tonight they were dancin' around and Daniel was wearing too-big pants without a belt. So he says to me, "I'm lookin' like a fool with my pants on the ground."

On a Lighter Note

For some reason, my kids are all into how J-walking is illegal. They equate J-walking with speeding or running red lights. They are the self-pronounced J-walking policemen of Jupiter! So today we saw a J-walker, (who by the way had droopy drawers and I HAD to lead the kids in a round of "Pants on the ground, pants on the ground. Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground) but it was how Lizzy told Marc about it tonight over dinner that inspired this blog.

Lizzy: "Daddy, we went to Busch Wildlife today. WE SAW A J-WALKER!!!"

No mention of the bears, turtles or snakes, just the J-walker!!! Gotta love it!

Life Has Been So Serious Lately!

Late January to February was a hectic time! We had so much going on; school, doctors appointments, dentist visits, holidays, my brother's visit, field trips, camping, etc. It seemed we were barely home to school! I would find myself just trying to breathe at times! These last two weeks have been regular regularity. Church Sunday morning and evening, School and home Monday through Wednesday. Awana Wednesday nights with Latin/Piano/Art on Thursdays while the house got clean. Friday and Saturday at home. Laundry, pick up, garage clean, Marc home. Do it again. Routine is so secure.

HOWEVER, it has been so hard and serious with the kids! I have been on them about obedience like white on rice! It is HARD WORK!! People tell me all the time, "You are a better woman than I. I could never do what you do." Honestly, I really get these same phrases from a lot of people(usually store clerks-they have a guaranteed 2 minutes with me when I check out). It is hard! It is really hard to stay home, be consistent, be in the kids hearts, be dealing with sin, doing laundry.

OK, maybe the last one just seems hard and monotonous! But God didn't tell us it would be easy. HIS burden is easy, but our sinful state makes it hard! If everyone in my family chose obedience to Christ, it would all be beautiful and easy. But we are depraved and sinful. Selfish, hurtful, impatient, unkind. Life has been serious lately but that is because I will not stand for the sin to continue! It is hard to deal with my own heart, let alone the sin evident in 6 other little lives. God gave me this road, I chose this road, I will take this road less taken! This is such a privilege, such hard work!

Raising 6 kids isn't easy, but I know it is eternal!
